Dec 31, 2026 New Year's Eve Comedy Gala
Four headliners. One huge show. One unforgettable way to close out the year.
This New Year’s Eve, The Comedy Stand takes over The Sanctuary Arts Centre in Dartmouth for a special one-night comedy event featuring four of the region’s best stand-up comics on one stage.
Forget another crowded bar, overpriced prix-fixe dinner, or New Year’s Eve party where everyone spends the night waiting for midnight. Start your celebration with a room full of people, a beautiful venue, and a stacked lineup of comedians built to make the last night of the year one of the funniest.
The New Year’s Eve Comedy Gala brings together JJ Whitehead, Travis Lindsay, Line Woods and Scott Belford, hosted by Josh Poulain, for a headliner showcase you won’t see anywhere else.
JJ Whitehead is an internationally acclaimed comedian whose fearless, electric stand-up has taken him to stages across the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. A longtime touring partner of Jim Jefferies and a writer for The Jim Jefferies Show on Comedy Central, JJ has appeared at major comedy festivals around the world and on television including Comedy Now, The Comedy Store, 7 Days and the Halifax Comedy Festival.
Travis Lindsay has been performing stand-up since he was 16 and has become one of the most prolific voices in East Coast comedy. A winner of CBC’s Hubcap Comedy Competition and Bell TV’s Comedy Boot Camp, he has appeared at the Halifax Comedy Festival, competed three times as a SiriusXM Top Comic semi-finalist, and saw his debut comedy album The Kid Is Alright reach #1 on the iTunes comedy chart.
Line Woods is an award-winning bilingual comedian, storyteller, writer and filmmaker who has become one of the Maritimes’ most in-demand performers. In 2020, she made history as the first woman to win the CBC Radio Open Mic Stand-Up Contest at the Hubcap Comedy Festival. She has performed at festivals across Atlantic Canada, can be heard on SiriusXM, and is featured on a Just For Laughs comedy compilation.
Scott Belford is one of Canadian stand-up’s true road warriors, with years spent performing everywhere from comedy clubs and theatres to colleges, corporate events and cruise ships. He was selected as one of just 32 finalists from thousands of applicants for the Seattle International Comedy Competition and has appeared at the Edmonton Comedy Festival. Conversational, sharp and relentlessly relatable, Scott has built his reputation by being able to win over just about any room.
The evening is hosted by Halifax comedian and Comedy Stand founder Josh Poulain.
This isn’t an open mic. It isn’t four short sets squeezed into a regular club night. It’s a full-scale New Year’s Eve headliner showcase, bringing together four accomplished comedians for one special performance inside one of Dartmouth’s most distinctive venues.
